Effects of cool roofs on indoor mosquito abundance
Background:
Cool roofs are expected to lower indoor temperature and influence human comfort and health
Mosquitoes are known to have temperature and humidity preferences influencing their resting and biting behavior
Mosquitos avoid hot temperatures and low humidity in warm and dry environments
Mosquitos favour warm and humid resting sites in cooler environments
Research objectives:
We will investigate the effects of cool roofs on mosquito abundance in three varying seasons; (i) hot/dry, (ii) cold/dry and (iii) rain/high humidity to identify if the intervention has a protective, hindering or inverse effect between seasons?
